Daisy – The newest member of the Rush family!!

It’s been a debate for the last couple of years… to add or not to add a puppy to our family.  Well, finally (about 1 month ago) we decided to start looking for puppies & see if we would find one that would be the perfect match to our family.  I knew that due to my allergies, I would need a non-shedding dog, and we knew that we would need a little dog because we live in a town home…. so the search began!  Growing up I had a Bichon Frise puppy, and although she was known for running off, she had a certain gumption that made her so endearing, so looking for another Bichon became a big factor for me.  I looked through the internet ads & finally found a litter of little Bichon/Maltese puppies.  The night before we were set to pick her up I realized that we didn’t have a name for our new puppy…. so I asked the girls to come up with names.  First Kate told me she wanted to name her Sparkles (a name that she has been fond of for quite some time), then Audrey came up with the name Margaret (insert my puzzled look regarding that one).  However, neither of those names were going to work (seriously, Margaret!)… the morning arrived & we had come up with 2 names Siri & Daisy… Mark, Kate & I had all agreed that we liked both of the names, but Audrey hadn’t decided & became the final vote…. ultimately she went with Daisy (which is a perfect fit since my brother’s dog is named Lily)!

So here she is at 9-weeks old…. our little Daisy!

It’s been less than a week with Daisy at home & we are just in LOVE…. now if we could only get her to sleep during the night!?

Trend Righter – Fashion Blogger

When Trend Righter (aka my cousin) contacted me about doing a fashion shoot for her blog & lookbook, I was just so excited because I knew it would be amazing!  Trend planned for several months as she nailed down her looks & locations…. and I just loved everything about where we ended up!  Here is just a snippet of what we did!

I had such a blast with Trend & her entire creative team!

April on Instagram (still playing catch up!)

If you have been a regular follower of me on this blog, Facebook or twitter, then you probably noticed a lack of activity from me these past few months.  I’m not sure if it was the overdose of social media that I took on in the fall by attempting to blog daily while doing 2-4 shoots per weekend, or if I had just gotten a bit tired of keeping up with all things SM… but between traveling, sick kids, an allergy stricken me, and the passing away of my husband’s grandma (whom we were all very close to), the break was needed & very good.  In the process I discovered Instragram (which I had done my best to resist for a very long time) & switched most of my social media energy over there… well at least the little energy I did have.  So, if you missed seeing me around & wanted to catch up, here is a mix of the things I did, ate & wore in April (all photos taken on my iPhone)…

I have about 6 shoots to get blogged… so don’t loose hope on me, because now that the summer is getting close I’ll have lots to share!

Shaylin – Spring Retreat

Shaylin is another one who I have photographed since she was a newborn!  And seeing her grow has been so much fun!!!  Of all the kids that I photographed this year, Shaylin was by far the most into Revlon (the bunny)… she even gave her a kiss!  But what Shaylin loved the most was bringing her Easter basket & picking up these little cotton balls I had… I have a feeling that Shaylin ended up being an expert Easter Egg Hunter this year!!!

I had such a great time with Shaylin, her parents & everyone who joined me this year for the Spring Mini-Sessions!!!

Hall Kids – Spring Retreat

One of the best things I get to do is photograph the same kids over & over… And these two are extra special, because I have been photographing them since they were both newborns! Sawyer was actually the first newborn I ever photographed (other than my own kids) & Callie’s newborn session was done in the hospital when she was only a couple days old!  I photographed this family 4 times last year (if there was a prize, they would be the winners) & this was our first session for 2012!!

This was the first time Callie sat up really well & she also did a little bit of standing for me!!

Sawyer had a Super Hero party this year… and wanted to get some photos in his super awesome cape & mask!

I just love these two & can’t wait for our next adventure!!!
