Underwater {Paige}

I’m not sure if it’s because I spent a lot of time as a child pretending to be a mermaid, all of the times I sat at the bottom of the pool trying to hold my breath longer than my dad, or all of the water related activities we do as a family… but I have been quite obsessed with underwater photography for a long time.  Swimming & scuba diving feels like freedom to me & I always imagined that I would feel that same freedom by photographing someone underwater.  One of my big goals for the summer was to do some water related photography… and when I was asked by a couple of clients to do surfing & pool shoots for them, I knew it was really going to happen. I ended up planning an entire weekend of shoots, ranging from shoots to just practice using the gear (thanks to Zeke & my kids for being my guinea pigs), to surfing shoots, to underwater product shoots, to some personal work… I spent 4-days in a bathing suit & just loved every minute of it!

Here is the first from my day of personal shoots…

I have to just give a HUGE thank you to the Rizo family for the use of their pool, Megan Herzing who did an AMAZING job with the make-up for the 3 girls we photographed, Paige for coming out at the last minute to model (and who could hold her breath for 2 minutes) & to my husband for assisting me during the first couple days of shoots, making sure I was properly weighted down & having the scuba regulator on hand so I could stay down with Paige for those 2-minute intervals!

Very Truly,

Diana Rush
